The Family is the Fundmental Unit of the Revolution

Yup. That's pretty much what I believe.

Some details are sketched out in a guest blog post Jocelyn Christensen invited me to write as part of multi-blog celebration of "The Family: A Proclamation to the World."

  2. I love the ideas for proclamation-minded parents. These small things really do make a difference. "And thus we see that by small means the Lord can bring about great things."

I recently read a book called Radical Homemakers: reclaiming domesticity from a consumer culture. While I didn't agree with some of the ideas and felt that some of it was over the top, it was very interesting to see a secular look at the importance of home, family and community. I have seen a return to some of these values in my own neighborhood, in both members of the church and nonmembers alike and it gives me great hope for our future.

  4. I mentioned this post to Grandma and Grandpa during dinner... grandpa asked me to send it to him, said he wants to keep track of what you write about the family, because that's family history, and how happy he is you'll be at the wedding in December with all his brothers.

And then he started telling me stories about him and his brothers. And he complimented your ghazal, so I asked about his ghazal-reciting days, and that led to even more stories.

    Family is awesome.
